WE work with artisans who work on hand looms promoting cottage industry. We promote “Swadeshi’ meaning (in present-day India) produced within the country; not imported material. The word has its origin in ancient Sanskrit svadeśin, from sva (one’s own) + deśa (country). By encouraging the local crafts and arts we are also supports the present day initiative of Make In India.
Handwork is time consuming process and due to modernization is slowly disappearing as the artisans and workers do not get their due share. We at Indian Gift Basket are working to keep the art alive and give a livelihood to them.
All products are personally handpicked to ensure quality product is delivered. Quality is our USP. We at Indian Gift Basket travel extensively to different parts of the country to bring you the true flavor of INDIAN Handicrafts. The rich Indian Art and craft are ideal gifts to any one in the world.
In one of our visits to an artisan, his family gathered around us sharing that through the initiative of Indian Gift Basket they can reach any part of the world. Simple people have simple dreams, we can try making a difference to their lives by giving hope that the future is good and bright. The young generation gets a motivation to keep the family business & tradition alive. The article is not just an item or a gift, but a slice of Indian artisan’s dream.
The road ahead is beautifully captured by eminent poet Robert Frost in the verse
“The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep.”
